- when life becomes overwhelming

Welcome to my website!

My name is Susan Freedman and  I have a private practice in Stanmore, Middlesex  just a short distance from Harrow, Edgware, Bushey or  Watford.  I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist offering long or short term,  individual, face to face psychotherapy and counselling in North West London.  However under the current pandemic situation I am also only offering  online sessions by Zoom, Skype or on the telephone.

Sometimes we experience overwhelming feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger, guilt, lonliness, isolation, emptiness or confusion which interfere with day to day life and prevent us from functioning at our best. This may be especially so as we face the new challenge and experience of Covid-19 which can add another layer of complexity to our issues.

Sometimes we experience a life event that is difficult to cope with or is overwhelming such as bereavement, serious illness, breakdown of a relationship, trauma, loss, work related issues, redundancy.  Is the uncertainty and fear around Covid-19  and social distancing causing additional stress or anxiety?

I also acknowledge that at present it may be more difficult to find the space to address your concerns or to focus on your own needs.  Therapy whether face to face or online  may provide a haven and a confidential space to express and explore these feelings.  I  also recognise that sometimes it is difficult to ask for help or you may be unsure about how effective counselling will be or whether it is right for you.   Please feel free to contact me by telephone or email should you have any queries and I will do my best to answer them.

How will therapy help?

I offer a confidential therapeutic space where we can explore together any difficulties or painful feelings you may be experiencing, whilst working at your own pace.  We can make sense of recurrent difficulties by making links to the past, think about unhelpful behaviours and thoughts and explore any options for change -  in an environment where you will not be judged and which is confidential.  By exploring your self and gaining insight and awareness you may be able to make sense out of the confusion and make positive changes.

If we decide to work together I will offer you regular once a week 50 minute sessions on the same day and at the same time each week.  This offers a sense of security and safety.
