About Susan

Who Am I?

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, having undertaken rigorous training in psychoanalytical principles and methods at the University of Hertfordshire and gaining a Post-Graduate Diploma in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling.

Although my main training was psychodynamic I also incorporate person-centred, solution focussed and CBT theory into my practice.

I am also a Counselling for Depression (CfD) Counsellor.

My Private Practice

My Private Practice is in Stanmore, Middlesex close to Edgware, Bushey, Harrow,  Watford,  and I have been offering psychotherapy and counselling or many years.  I offer both long and short term therapy depending on clients' needs.

I have found counselling and psychotherapy to be helpful with many issues including bereavement, loss, trauma, relationships, anxiety, depression, anger, abuse, low self esteem, stress, work related issues, feelings of worthlessness or unresolved conflicts.

My clients have included individuals of all ages and from different social and cultural backgrounds.  I see each client as an individual with different needs and experiences and I will try to reflect this in the way I work with clients.

Experience

I have had extensive experience working with bereavement and loss, anxiety and depression and chronic and life-threatening illnesses, anger, relationship issues, work related issues, stress, abuse and more recently the impact of Covid  and Long Covid.

I currently work at a Cancer Support Charity offering counselling to either individuals who are facing challenging or chronic illnesses or to their family members.  I also provide bereavement counselling

I have had experience working in a GP surgery offering short-term therapy (6 sessions) to patients at the practice who were suffering with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, abuse, anger, guilt, relationship issues, low self esteem, stress, work related issues and bereavement.  I have also had experience working at a local Hospice.

Professional Membership

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to its strict ethical framework.

Covid-19

I am now offering sessions via telephone or Teams in addition to face to face.
